Rochester A.B.O.V.E. is dedicated to the success and academic growth of our youth.  We continue to advance our mission of social, economic and spiritual empowerment and making a positive impact in the lives of our people and community as a whole

Although Rochester A.B.O.V.E. is still young, we strongly believe that “Knowledge is Power” and feel as though there  is a need to contribute to the advancement and future of those less fortunate, yet young, bright, ambitious individuals; teaching them to take advantage of opportunities for continuing education and professional development.

In June 2008, we launched the African Aerican Youth Achievement program. This program was designed to help high school seniors transition successfully from high school to college. The program consists of a series of workshops that focus on professional/career development, financial management, health & wellness, cultural/self-awareness, writing skills, and college preparation skills. We also offer tutoring and mentoring through our program. Rochester A.B.O.V.E. partners with the Urban League of Rochester's Black Scholars program in which we award 4 $500.00 scholarships at their annual gala.

Urban League Black Scholars Program

The Black Scholars program provides recognition, assistance and incentives to students who achieve and maintain a "B" or better average throughout high school. The program identifies Black Scholars from school districts in Genesee, Livingston, Monroe, Ontario, Orleans, and Wayne counties. Workshops are held every fall and spring to prepare college bound students and their parents for college selection, admissions testing and applications, financial aid and college survival. The highlight of the program is the annual Black Scholars dinner held each June where each Black Scholar is publicly recognized and over $2.5 million in scholarships is presented
