About Us

Rochester A.B.O.V.E. (Achieving and Bringing Our Vision to Excellence) is a non-profit organization whose main focus is to improve the quality of life in the African American community spiritually, socially, and economically by means of cultural education and awareness. Incorporated on January 10, 2006.

In June 2008, we launched the African Aerican Youth Achievement program.  This program was designed to help high school seniors transition successfully from high school to college.  The program consists of a series of workshops that focus on professional/career development, financial management, health & wellness, cultural/self-awareness, writing skills, and college preparation skills.  We also offer tutoring and mentoring through our program. Rochester A.B.O.V.E. partners with the Urban League of Rochester's Black Scholars program in which we award 4 $500.00 scholarships at their annual gala.

In August, 2007, we launched our 1st annual African American festival at Genesee Valley Park in Rochester, NY.  The festival continues to grow on an average of 500-1000 atendees per year.  The festival serves as an opportunity for a diverse community to share in the celebration of African/African American heritage, life, music and culture.
